Adaptations are available to all students.

Adaptations are teaching and assessment strategies so students can achieve the learning standards of the subject or course.

A few examples of adaptation are:

  • Breaking up assignments into smaller parts
  • Demonstrating learning in different ways, oral exam or visual representation.
  • Using speech to text technology.

Modifications are for students with diverse abilities who are not able to access the learning standards of the curriculum.

The decision for a student to be on a modified program will take place in their grade 10 year. Parents will be consulted prior to their child being on a modified program.

Students on a modified program are assessed in relation to the goals and objectives established in their Individual Education Plan.
